Gertrude and her comrades had spent the night near the chamber with the dead robbers and decided to go back to the Halls of the 10 Spears to meet up with some other members of their order to enlist their help.. They went back to the room with the dead robbers. Skandalf took one of the heads from the robbers and cast speak with the dead on it. They asked the head for directions to the place where it had died and received a list of cardinal directions in response.
Following the directions, the group went west to a room where they had previously discovered a hidden compartment with a lever. They turned the lever to the opposite position and continued on. In the next room, Gertrude and the others stopped at the door to search for hidden traps. Skandalf discovered a trapped door knob that would stab the opener with a poisoned needle when the door was opened. Gertrude quickly moved to disarm the trap by hitting the needle with her dagger. Inside the room, the group opened another hidden compartment and pulled the lever inside.
As they made their way through the chamber, the group came across a room with a starry nightscape on the walls and found the hidden compartment with a lever inside. They turned the lever and instantly heard the sound of a secret door opening. They continued on to a fourth room where they discovered a glass dome that magnified the contents inside. They found the last hidden compartment and turned the lever.
In the fourth room, Rolf’s armor was almost immediately dissolved by a droplet of slime that fell on him. With the help of the others, Rolf was able to remove his armor before it was completely destroyed. The group then lit a torch and tossed it into the tunnel. Rolf transformed into a spider and carefully navigated through the dark tunnel.
At the end of the tunnel, Rolf transformed back into a human and cast a flaming sphere spell on top of his head. He saw a drooping slime hanging from the roof over the tunnel entrance and moved the flaming sphere into the slime, burning it in the process. The group followed Rolf into the room with the slime and he cast a spell to detect traps in the area. They continued through a door to an intersection, where Rolf sensed a trap to the north.
The group remembered that the last time they had been there, the door in the north had triggered a fireball trap. They asked the head of the dead robber how they had solved the trap and were told that they hadn’t gone through the door. The group went east and continued to the end of the corridor, where they came to another intersection. They turned north and went to the end of that corridor, where Rolf detected another trap.
To trigger the trap safely, the group gathered a bunch of items and placed them in a nearby wheelbarrow. Rolf pushed the wheelbarrow over the trap, causing the wall next to the trap to push the wheelbarrow down the stairs. Fortunately, there was a narrow space under the wall. Yllätys-Kyllikki crawled over the trap and the wall moved over her. A second later, the group heard a scream and the sound of battle. They followed Yllätys-Kyllikki and found her unconscious on the ground surrounded by a group of angry, sharp-toothed humanoids.
The group engaged the monsters in battle, but the monsters gained the initiative and bit Rolf and Gifflar with a critical hit. Fortunately, thanks to the blessing of Glenn’s god, both Rolf and Gifflar were protected from the paralyzing effects of the bites. On their turn, Gertrude shot one of the monsters with a silver arrow and Balbinus cast a spell to control undead, gaining the fealty of the monsters. The group grabbed Yllätys-Kyllikki and Glenn cast cure wounds on her to revive her.
After defeating the monsters, the group continued down the corridor and came to a crossing where they saw an alcove in front of them. Gertrude suspected that the floating bones in the alcove indicated a gelatinous cube and shot it with a silver arrow. Skandalf also cast magic missiles, destroying the cube. In the other direction was another alcove with a life-size statue of McIver.
Following the path given to them by the dead robber’s head, the group came to a locked door. Balbinus, whose control undead spell was running out of time, ordered the monsters on the ground and the group stabbed them in the back, killing them all. Skandalf picked the lock on the door and they heard a sound behind them. Gertrude went back to retrace their path and found that a new wall was blocking their way.
The group continued through the door they had just picked and found a sarcophagus carved in the likeness of Zorlac. They also found a room with empty and broken chests. Skandalf cast detect secret doors from the ebin staff and they found one at the south end of the room. Gifflar discovered the door and they opened it, finding a single chest inside. They discovered a trap on the chest and disabled it with some lard and a coin. Annalise picked the lock on the chest and inside they found 1000 copper pieces.
The group returned to the staircase and searched for a secret door, finding one after 10 minutes. They went through the door and to the end of the following corridor, where they found a room with three levers and three buttons, all in the down position. The group used their last question to ask how to solve the lever and button puzzle, but the dead robber’s head answered that it was irrelevant. Glenn found a secret door on the north wall and they went through it, coming to a great concert hall with an organ on the side. Rolf detected trap vibes on the organ. Gertrude played the McIver song on the pipe organ, but this caused worms to start falling from the roof, yellow gas to start flowing from the organ, and the organ to explode. Gertrude and Annalise went unconscious and Yllätys-Kyllikki died.
Varakka, Gertrude, Annalise, Skandalf, and Balbinus were infected with the worms and they started burrowing towards their hearts. Rolf tried to remove one of Varakka’s worms and managed to do so, but caused a lot of damage in the process. Skandalf turned into gas and her worms dropped. Skandalf shot magic missiles at Gertrude’s and Annalise’s worms, destroying them.
After reviving Varakka and giving him a potion to turn him into gas, Glenn cast sanctuary on Balbinus, causing the worm inside him to burrow out. Annalise opened the door, which was not even locked, and the group went through. After a while, they found a room with a metal cage lining the walls and plaques with holes under them on the side of the room.
